Into the Wilderness captures the raw emotions and mental escape of a Confederate soldier as he comes face to face with a runaway slave boy in the wilderness during the Battle of the Wilderness during the American Civil War. The battle was fought in Orange County, Virginia from May 5 through May 7, 1864 and was the first battle waged between General Ulysses S. Grant and General Robert E. Lee.
